Ford Endeavour in 2015

Ford first showcased the 2014 Endeavour at the 2014 Auto Expo. It gets a whole host of cosmetic updates both on the inside and outside with the largest change being the new grille which is now more in line with the Ford family face. It however, retains the same engine and underpinnings.

Diesel Models
Ford Endeavour 2.5L 4X2 MT
This is the base variant and it sports a 4-cylinder, 2.5-litre, TDCi diesel power plant that displaces 2499cc. This motor is incorporated with a variable geometry turbocharger that enables it to produce 141bhp at 3500rpm, while generating 330Nm of peak torque at just 1800rpm. It is skillfully paired with a sophisticated 5-speed manual gearbox that helps in producing a mileage of 13.1 Kmpl. This entry level trim is incorporated with safety aspects like ABS with EBD, dual stage front airbags, remote key less entry with anti-theft alarm, seat belt pretensioner and load limiter. It can produce a peak power of 153.86bhp at 3200rpm in combination with a peak torque of 380Nm at 2500rpm. This torque output is distributed to the front wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission gearbox. This mid range trim is blessed with a DVD player with roof mounted LCD display, cruise control system, illuminated scuff plates, sporty pedals, two-tone interiors. It also has driver and passenger side airbag and stylish side body claddings. Apart from these, all the other aspects are similar to those equipped in the 4x2 MT trim.

Ford Endeavour 3.0L 4X4 AT
This top end trim comes with the same features that are in the 3.0L AT 4x2 trim. It is also powered by the powerful 3.0-litre diesel motor, but the torque is distributed to all the four wheels with the help of an electric shift-on-fly system. In addition to these, it also has limited slip differential, a touchscreen LCD audio unit with satellite navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and a reverse parking camera with LCD display.

Power of Ford Endeavour
The entry level trim is powered by a 2499cc TDCI diesel engine that is incorporated with a variable geometry turbocharger. This motor can pump out a commanding power of 141bhp at 3500rpm in combination with a maximum torque of 330Nm at 1800rpm. On the other hand, the top end trim is equipped with a 2953cc diesel motor that is incorporated with common rail direct fuel injection system. This engine can churn out 153.86bhp at 3200rpm and produces a peak torque of 380Nm at 2500rpm, which is rather impressive.

Ford Endeavour Exteriors
The most prominent change is the front grille which now features the octagonal grille that we first saw on the facelifted Ford Figo and then the EcoSport compact SUV which was launched last year. Ford has also revised the design of the headlights, fog lamps and obviously the bumper also. The side and rear profile remains the same as the outgoing car but with the former now gets revised graphics. Some of the new features include blind spot mirror on the passenger side and 16-inch wheels.

Ford Endeavour Interiors
Ford has retained most of the interiors from the outgoing car but has now added a touch screen infotainment system, Bluetooth for the music system and a reversing camera. The SUV can still seat seven people with decent amount of space for each of the passengers. Standard features across all variants include two-zone AC, fabric upholstery for the manual and RWD AT versions while the top- spec 4X4 AT gets full leather inside.

Engine and gearbox
The SUV retains the 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre Duratorq diesel engines. However, in the facelifted model Ford has kept the four-wheel-drive exclusive to the 3.0-litre engine mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. The base 2.5-litre Endeavour is only available in a two-wheel-drive guise and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Competition
The Ford Endeavour competes with the Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Captiva, Isuzu MU7, Toyota Fortuner and the Honda CR-V which is a petrol only model for the Indian market but is similarly priced.
