New Honda City

The wait for India’s most popular mid-size sedan, Honda City is over as the company launched its next-generation avatar on 8th, January, 2012 at a competing price tag of Rs. 7.42 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). The first generation of this sedan heartthrob made its debut in the Indian market back in January, 1998 and since then it has satisfied.

Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta is a small family car produced by the German manufacturer Volkswagen since 1979. Positioned to fill a sedan niche above the firm's Golf hatchback offering, it has been marketed over six generations variously as the Atlantic, Fox, Vento, Bora, City Jetta, Jetta City, GLI, Jetta, Clasico, and Sagitar. The Jetta was originally adapted by adding a conventional trunk to the Golf hatchback, and some distinctive styling (usually the front end, and sometimes slight interior changes). It has been offered in two- and four-door saloon (sedan), and five-door estate (station wagon) versions - all as five-seaters. As of 2005, over 6.6 million cars have been sold worldwide, over one-third in the United States alone. Since the original version in 1980, the car has grown in size and power with each successive generation.

Chevrolet Cruze

The Chevrolet Cruze was brought in 2009 to replace the Optra sedan in the highly competitive D-Segment. At first glance it embodies all the design elements that characterise big American muscle cars; a large hood, notchback and chunky bits of body work-all to give the Beefy look. However, inside while seeming like a little bit of a tight ship, the Chevrolet Cruze rides low down and can take five people over long distances in quite a lot of comfort. It got a new engine last year and now recently Chevrolet facelifted the Cruze.

Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra is one of the most beautiful offerings in the D-Segment. The car was unveiled during the 2010 Busan Motor Show and has been designed using Hyundai’s fludic design philosophy. It is available in seven different variants and with both petrol and diesel engines. Both mills get the option of an automatic gearbox. The interiors include features like front ventilated seats (first in class), automatic climate control and rear audio controls, of which the last one is subtle indicator that Hyundai has squarely aimed the car at the Chauffer driven class. The Hyundai Elantra currently competes with vehicles like the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta and the Chevrolet Cruze.

Skoda Octavia

The Skoda Octavia is back in India in its third iteration. The D segment sedan holds a lot of promise with a complete overhaul to both the exteriors and interiors based on the Vision D concept. The new car from Czech carmaker has a seeming resemblance to the 2013 European Skoda Rapid, but is premium of the two and also a brand in itself.

Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar was first exhibited at the Indian Auto Expo in 2010 and ever since it has attracted a lot of prospective buyers, especially enthusiasts. It is the first car from Mahindra to get an oil-burner BS IV CRDe engine and a soft-top. The car comes in three variants DI 4x2, DI 4x4 and the CRDe 4x4 with AC. The Mahindra Thar is reminiscent of the age-old sturdy Jeep that villagers in India used for many years. This new one is however revived with many changes still keeping the retro look intact. The round headlamps and front grille accentuate the same. The side indicators have been placed on the wheel arches, which is cost effective and old school. The rectangular front glass frame is hinged on to the front and can be dropped onto the bonnet,

Honda CR-V

The 2007 Honda CR-V has very bold looks and is the most compact crossover SUV available. It is very evident that Honda has attempted to make it more car-like and has succeeded. What this has done is made the new CRV sportier. Tweaks to the A pillar and the centre of gravity has bolstered the performance. The grille and headlight cluster adds to the aggressive and sporty stance. The changes, though radical, are functional even from the engineering aspect. The engine choices on offer are the 2.0l and 2.4l. The 2.4l version also comes with an automatic. This rightly brings with the manual
